Trusting God Beyond Fear, Finances, and Limitations

  • Article by Alan Chang

I give thanks to the Lord for His grace and guidance that allowed me to serve in this year’s Easter musical by helping with the production of stage props. The Lord anointed me with wisdom and strengthened both my wife, Carol’s and my faith, allowing us to witness His presence in our lives.

While working on the props, the Lord gave me a dream: after finishing the first and lowest wall, all the stage walls collapsed during the performance.

While working on the props, the Lord gave me a dream: after finishing the first and lowest wall, all the stage walls collapsed during the performance. I shared it with Carol, wondering if it was from the enemy. That same day, at the factory, I was shocked to find the wall was indeed unstable. Because it was a movable prop, I couldn’t build it as I usually do. I knew then the Lord had given me the dream as a warning. I prayed for wisdom and the phrase “balance and central support” came to mind. I followed this guidance, and the structure was secured. Praise God—He watches over every detail!

The second testimony is how God built our faith through inviting people to the musical. We used to hesitate with those we didn’t know well, but this time the Lord gave us courage. Carol asked me, “With so many friends and relatives to invite, how will we host them all?” I responded in faith, “Let’s fast and pray. Trust in the Lord that if He sends them He will help us to manage.”

We invited over 140 people—friends, relatives, colleagues, and even new acquaintances. In the end, 74 attended, 3 accepted Christ and 6 rededicated their lives. This was God’s grace and power. All glory to Jesus!

The third testimony happened just days before the musical. Carol informed me that our company account had only RM500 left.

She was anxious, questioned how I was able to concentrate on the rehearsals, and highlighted that there is one customer whose payment could resolve our financial difficulty— but he hadn’t replied to calls or messages. Backstage, I prayed. An idea sparked and I sent him an invitation to the musical. No reply. The next afternoon, I messaged again: “If you're going through any challenges, maybe it’s time to return to God’s house. Maybe this performance is how God wants to speak to you.” Still nothing.

After rehearsal, he finally replied, saying he would attend. At the same time, my wife told me he had settled the full payment. Praise the Lord!

The client came to the musical and said he was touched by God. On the final night, he brought along his family and former church friends. Later, he told me that after watching, he and his wife decided to use their savings to clear all debts. He said he felt a huge burden lifted from him, and shortly after, he closed a business project and agreed to return to church and serve again.

This Easter musical was a journey of faith and obedience. Once again, the Lord showed me that if we trust and surrender, He will do far more than what we can ask or imagine. May this testimony encourage you, and may we all experience, know, and testify of the Lord more deeply through our service.
