Stepping Out
Missions Emphasis January 2026
Missions is the heartbeat of Calvary Church. From the very beginning, Senior Pastor Prince Guneratnam and Sister Petrina have always reminded Calvarites that the church exists so people can come to know the Lord. In line with this, the first Missions Emphasis Weekend of the year was held from 10 - 11 January 2026.
The Missions video report shared during the Worship Services showcased how Faith Promise pledges bring "Life Through Dry Lands" across the world. In 2025, the congregation’s generous giving provided critical aid during Myanmar’s earthquake and Indonesia’s floods, supported anti-trafficking work in Bangladesh and Thailand, and fuelled church planting in Kenya, Ghana, and Bangladesh. This global reach is strengthened by the church’s commitment to raising labourers locally, through initiatives like the Calvary Special Internship. As we look to 2026 and the new theme, "Stepping Out" (Joshua 1:9), we aim to continue the good work.
Pastor Chadwick Mohan bringing forth the mission's message
Pastor Chadwick Mohan from India, was the guest speaker for Missions Emphasis Weekend. He anchored his stirring call in Matthew 9:37: "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few,”, challenging every believer with five urgent questions:
1. Do You Share God's Concern for the World? (Jonah 4:10-11) We are called to move beyond our own comforts and adopt God's heartbeat – that none should perish but all come to repentance.
2. How Will They Be Saved If We Don't Witness? (Romans 10:13-14) Salvation comes through hearing the Word of God. "Preaching" is not just something done from behind a pulpit, it is the vital act of testifying to God's goodness in our everyday conversations.
3. Who Will Shepherd Them If We Don't? (Matthew 9:35-36) A crowd is always helpless, harassed, and headless. Likewise, the crowds of people without the good Shepherd in their lives are spiritually helpless, harassed, and headless. We are called to provide the direction, care, and leadership that points them towards Christ.

4. Who Will Go Beyond the Local? God asks, "Whom shall I send?" We must answer this call to carry His love across cultural and geographical boundaries, fulfilling the vision of a "reversal of missions" from Asia to the world.

5. Who Will Give Generously If We Don't? (2 Corinthians 8:1-5) We follow the example of the Corinthians (Macedonian churches), who first gave themselves to the Lord. God desires our total surrender more than our money; our financial Faith Promise is an extension of that committed heart and life.
Little hearts learning God's heart for the nations
An altar call was given for believers to commit to praying, giving and going. Many responded to dedicate themselves anew as vessels for His work in the ripened fields.
