Where Is My Christmas?
Christmas is without doubt one of the most important days in the Christian calendar since it is the day we commemorate the birth of Jesus. Many of us also look forward to this time of joy, connection, reflection and celebration. However, what if you lost your job in the midst of the festivities? This was exactly the predicament that befell the protagonists of this year's Christmas musical "Where is my Christmas?". Held on Saturday and Sunday, 7 and 8 December 2024, Calvary's annual musical gift to the city involved a talented cast and crew of 150 Calvaries and was attended by 5,360 people.
The musical began with the story of its main character, Melody, who found out that her husband, John, had lost his job. With Christmas beckoning and with John being the only breadwinner, the couple, who had two young daughters, felt overwhelmed by this difficult situation. While taking a walk to clear her head, Melody experienced a special encounter where she travelled back in time to Bethlehem.

In her journey, Melody met another traveller who steered her in Bethlehem's direction and witnessed a pregnant Mary(the mother of Jesus) singing in anticipation of Jesus' birth. She also encountered some quirky characters along the way including a "Gen. Alpha" angel and rapping shepherds. Through her interactions with them and through seeing the birth of Jesus first hand, the message of hope that Melody so needed to hear began to speak to her heart.
Meanwhile, John who had been searching for her, explained the story of Jesus' birth and His love for mankind to their eldest daughter.

As Melody expressed her frustrations to the characters she met along the way, she finally understand that God was in control and was reminded by her daughter's prayer that God loves her.

As the first part of the musical came to an end, Pastor David Seah came on stage to deliver a message of hope and helped the audience connect to Melody and John's situation to their own. At the end of the message on both days, we praise God that many people came forward to be prayed for with a total of 88 receiving Jesus into their hearts for the first time or rededicating their lives to Him. Pastor David also prayed for healing for many who responded to the altar.
Part two resumed with Melody praying and apologizing to God for doubting Him. Melody was then reunited with her husband and children and the couple agreed that regardless of their situation, God is in control. A grand finale followed with a closing narration by Melody, and with more singing an dancing by the cast.
Praise God for two wonderful evenings where the message of God's love could be shared with our city. Just like "a million little lights that are shining to the nation", believers were once reminded to share the love of Jesus and be the light that this world needs.
