Throughout the past Christmas season, Life Groups across Calvary Church opened their homes and hearts to friends and neighbours. What began as simple gatherings became opportunities for people to hear about Jesus and experience Christian community. This reflects the pattern seen in the early Church, where believers gathered in homes, shared meals with glad and sincere hearts, and “the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47). As a Spirit-empowered congregation, evangelism is our lifestyle—one that flows naturally from lives transformed by Jesus Christ.

Across these celebrations, 1,127 adults attended, with more than 300 potential believers encountering the Gospel in personal and meaningful ways.

Life Groups Going All Out for Christ

This conviction was expressed during the recent Christmas season, as 54 Life Groups within the Calvary family mobilized with one united purpose: to reach hearts with the love of Christ. Christmas was a divine opportunity for connection, testimony, and invitation.

Across homes and venues, Life Groups opened their doors to friends, family members, and neighbours. Through thoughtful planning and genuine hospitality, guests were welcomed into warm spaces of fellowship. Most importantly, members courageously shared their personal encounters with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Anbalagan Kovindasamy, a Life Group leader, reflected on a combined Tamil Life Group Christmas Celebration that saw 145 attendees, including 80 guests and 30 potential believers. He shared, “We are deeply encouraged by the positive feedback from our guests, many of whom shared that they not only enjoyed the celebration but also learned about Christ. We thank God for allowing us to sow His Word into our guests’ hearts.”

Woong Suh Shian, who helped lead the Calvary Rainbow Assembly Christmas Celebration, testified with gratitude. Out of 125 attendees, approximately 70 percent were potential believers. During the altar call, many responded through raised hands to give their lives to Jesus—a powerful reminder that the Holy Spirit continues to move when God’s people step out in obedience.

Similarly, Choo Lee Lee shared about a combined celebration organized by three Chinese Life Groups. With 120 attendees and 50 potential believers, the event was marked by unity and joyful service. Nearly all invited guests attended, many of whom were new and expressed openness to attending Sunday services and Life Group meetings. Leaders and members have since committed to intentional follow-up, trusting God to nurture these seeds of faith.

Another combined Christmas Celebration led by 3Sixteen Special Project Coordinator, Adrian Ng, and the team gathered 68 attendees from various Life Groups at Calvary Convention Centre. The luncheon was rich with Spirit-led moments—carolling led by Ngeow Zoo Gin, heartfelt fellowship over a Christmas buffet, and spirited conversations addressing life’s deeper questions.

A particularly moving highlight was the sharing by Bryan Wong, who testified about his encounter with God that delivered him from depression. His story resonated deeply, touching many hearts with the hope and healing found in Christ. The event concluded with an invitation to participate in the upcoming 3Sixteen, offering guests a next step in their spiritual journey.

3Sixteen: Exploring Faith Together

Following the Christmas outreach initiatives, 3Sixteen commenced its first Open Session of 2026 in January. Over six weekly gatherings, guests from Calvary’s various outreach touchpoints were invited into a safe and respectful environment to explore life’s big questions.
Ken, a guest, shared that he had long carried unanswered questions and found 3Sixteen to be a rare space for open and thoughtful dialogue.

Madam Loo, encouraged by her daughter Christine Tang, joined as a new believer. The sessions helped reaffirm her faith, leading her to water baptism within the same month.

Amy and her husband, who were invited by a family member, expressed appreciation for the honest discussions where differing perspectives were welcomed as they explored Christianity together.

A Journey of Love and Faithfulness

Evangelism is a journey marked by patience, prayer, and love, and often mobilizes an entire church body. From the warm smile of a friendly usher, to the care extended by Life Group leaders and Christian friends, to dedicated teams such as the Hospitality Team, Discipleship Ministry, E-Team, and 3Sixteen—every ministry plays a vital role in reflecting Christ’s love.

As the Apostle Paul exhorts in 2 Timothy 4:5, “Do the work of an evangelist.” The stories shared here reminds us that evangelism is not reserved for a few- it is the calling for every believer to step out.
