A Walk in the Park
Learning the Merits of Hiking & Natural Beauty
Over a span of two days, the Royal Ranger commanders began cultivating an appreciation for God’s green earth by taking the youngest Rangers out to local nature parks.
At 8.00am on Saturday, 29 April 2023, 9 Adventure Rangers from the Silver Group and six of their commanders gathered at Ketumbar Hill, Cheras, to fulfil the requirements of the Hiking Merit. After a short devotion and a briefing, the group headed towards the trailhead to begin the two-hour hike that would take them up the hill and back down.
Not only did the Adventure Rangers have a good time of fellowship with one another on the way up, it was also a chance to challenge themselves to persevere and conquer the trail, one step at a time.
On Sunday, 30 April 2023, a group of 42 Ranger Kids, aged 6 to 8 years and 10 commanders went to Bukit Jalil Park for a nature exploration activity.
This activity was based on the Nature Merit, and its aim was to teach the Rangers to appreciate God’s creation through nature. The Event Commander, Melanie Wong, organised a fun activity where the Rangers collected dry leaves and branches to create beautiful art pieces. The Rangers who participated in the activity will receive their Nature Merit as recognition of their accomplishment.
We were blessed by Council Chairman David Peter’s devotion on how God loves us and has entrusted us with the responsibility of caring for nature. We are very thankful to Jesus for the good weather, for His protection throughout the event, for His presence during the activity, and also for the fun time that the Rangers had together.
We had nine new recruits join us for the first time and we thank God they have expressed interest in joining Royal Rangers on a regular basis. All glory to God!
